I’m going to report the Social Networking Websites presentation.

First, I’m going to talk and evaluate Saeed’s presenting. In the first place, Saeed  introduced the topic in an excellent way by asking the audience how they can socialize with their families. Additionally, Saeed had a real good eye contact with the audience and spoke very clearly and loudly. He stood beside the screen which allowed us to see the screen clearly. Saeed used note cards, but he read neither from the note cards nor from the screen. Saeed used very good English in his part of presenting. Saeed seemed very organized and managed to give a good and clear idea about the topic he’s presenting to the audience. He had a spectacular smile on his face and looked real confident.

Secondly, Mohammed had a good eye contact with the audience, but he was talking with a clear and loud voice. He also stood at the side not in the front of the screen which gives him some credit. Furthermore, Mohammed used the note cards very well. However, he read a little from the screen, but it was nothing to be mentioned. He seemed well- organized and very confident, but he took the presentation a bit seriously.

Pursuing this further, they had some clourful pictures as a background. In the same way, the text was all clear according to the contrast and there wasn’t too much. Nevertheless, they didn’t put enough animations in the slides. Finally they were excellent working together.

Reflection on the Meeting

As a chairman Saeed was very active, efficient, and competent. He illustrated the causes of the problem, and gave a lot of remarkable ideas and solutions. Mohammed was well involved in the meeting by writing everything, modifying plenty of ideas, and he was real good playing the role of the secretary. Hadif was the participant; he got into the talk very well sharing bags of problems, but giving them solutions too. Finally Hadif took the task of typing the meeting and putting it on the blog, which he took very seriously and did effectively.

We did a good job solving that problem and working with each other, and I hope we could work together again soon.

In my opinion, I felt very good working with others on solving problems because each person may have a different view of the problem, so you may get numerous different solutions. It was really enjoyable and beneficial to us.

Meeting discussing Expensive Dowries in the U.A.E.

Chairman Saeed called the meeting to order at 14:55. The main problem that was discussed in the meeting is the expensive dowry in the U.A.E, but it started with Saeed talking about marriage generally as a social union. Then Mohammed pointed out the specific rules which govern marriage in the U.A.E. Hadif commented on the institution of marriage which includes intimate interaction between partners.

To control the topic of the meeting, Saeed pointed out the major problems facing Emirati men who have the desire to get married which is the expensive dowry. The consequences of this problem are significant. Mohammed raised the issue of debt and loans related to banks. Hadif emphasized the social problems which include living in a low conditions and below expectations, misunderstanding and continuous arguments between partners which could lead to divorce. Saeed notes that as a result of these problems, Emirati men tend to choose foreign girls who do not ask for such high standards. The result of this however is that Emirati girls stay maiden with no husband for years and maybe never get married.

To find a solution for this issue, Mohammed mentioned the Marriage Fund which is supported and funded by the government of the U.A.E. in an attempt to lower the dowry. Awareness through media is an important method to influence families and the general public. For example, movies, talk shows, and advertisements are practical means to change the concept of marriage and its costs.

So, the chairman called the meeting to adjourn at 15:25.
